Streetworks Cards
After being trained in different road works operations, successful candidates can apply for a Streetworks card as proof of their skills. The training given decides which card can be awarded. Listed below are examples showing combinations of skills required for the award of a Streetworks card..

1. Underground, traffic control and trenching
2. Underground, traffic control, trenching, backfill and cold lay tarmac
3. Underground, traffic control; hot and cold lay tarmac
4. Underground, traffic control and concrete roads
5. Underground, traffic control and pavements

Workers may hold one or all combinations. The most popular combination is a Streetworks card that shows 1,2,3 and 5.
CPQ offer a 5 day course that achieves this.
The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRASWA) sets out the procedures and guidelines that all utility companies need to adhere to when placing or maintaining their equipment on the highway.

The Act and associated Codes of Practice cover the notification requirements, the safety to highway users and the standards required of the reinstatement of all excavations on the highway
