The Construction Plant Competency Scheme (CPCS) is a nationally recognised card scheme that sets the industry standard for construction plant operators. The CPCS red Trained Operator and blue Competent Operator cards are proof that your workforce is properly skilled and trained, and that safety is a priority in your workplace.

The CPCS covers the entire plant sector of the construction industry. As an approved CPCS test centre, CPQ can train, test and provide the relevant NVQs in 77 different CPCS categories. Please click on the category headings on the left for more details.

CPQ provides high quality training and testing in the safe and effective use of plant and machinery. We have an excellent track record for helping candidates pass CPCS tests and processing the paperwork so that cards are received without delay. Training and testing can take place at CPQ’s training facility or, in some cases, at a site of your choosing.

For more information on Training, Tests & Tickets, please click on the button at the top of the page.
Amongst other things, it is now compulsory for many tests to be conducted at a CPCS approved test centre. CPQ is the leading centre of its kind in the South East. Elements of the tests are much tougher now and training in how to pass CPCS tests is recommended even for experienced workers. The CPCS red card only lasts two years and cannot be renewed. Operators must have an NVQ to get the CPCS blue card, which lasts five years and can be renewed quite easily. CPQ has an in-depth understanding of the scheme and we are always happy to answer any question you might have. back
